My full name is Miłosz Konstanty Szyszka (me-waush / kaun-staun-ti / shih-sh-kaa). Szyszka means pinecone, which I find very fitting because I grew up surrounded by pine trees. I used to collect pinecones when I was young, put googly eyes on them, name them, build houses for them (and other dolls) out of tissue boxes, and whatnot. Usually, I go by Milo (my-lo or me-lo, either is fine).
I have an MFA in Creative Writing from Pacific Lutheran University’s Rainier Writing Workshop where I studied fiction and poetry with three amazing mentors. In my undergrad, I majored in Communication with an emphasis on Human Communication and Conflict and minored in Creative Writing at Regis University where I was co-president of the Communication Honors Society. I love learning, so if I’m able to pursue further schooling, I would love to study folklore or get a PhD in Creative Writing or English.
